Maritime: Amount of waste produced at the port

Waste materials generated on vessels and at ports include plastic, paper, glass, metal, and food wastes. Hazardous wastes generated on vessels and by maintenance activities include waste oil, batteries, paints, solvents, and pesticides. Ports typically manage collection and storage of hazardous and nonhazardous wastes, with transportation, treatment, and disposal managed by third parties. Water effluents generated by ships include sewage, tank cleaning water, bilge water, and ballast water. This source gives an example of how this indicator can be used in analysis.
