Freight Intensity (all modes, or by selected mode of transport) (tonne-km per GDP)

This is usually defined as the ratio of freight tonne-kms to an economic output measure such as GDP. It is an important indicator of an economy’s dependence on freight transport. This source provides an example of a methodology developed by the Government of India and Rocky Mountain Institute.
